Winter Breather Program
Aspen is a charitable human service agency established in Calgary in 1984. Over the years, Aspen has grown to become among the city's largest family service agencies - serving over 5,000 clients a year. Apex is pleased to be a continued supporter in Aspen's Winter Breather Program which pays utility bills for families in need, for 2 months over December and January so families are able to purchase Christmas gifts.
Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Calgary and Area
Cleared for Take Off is an annual event held out at Spring Bank Airport. Apex sponsored the event along with the Calgary Flying Club and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Children from the Big Brothers & Big Sisters Club go up in an airplane and have 20 minutes of actually controlling the airplane. It is a very memorable day for the kids and everyone involved in the event.www.bbbscalgary.com
Calgary Interfaith Food Bank
The Company has been a proud supporter of the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank for a number of years. We have given monetary gifts and employee sponsored donations.
In 2010 the staff along with support from Apex raised over 2,000 pounds of food.
Feed the Hungry
Is operated by Catholic Charities, Apex support’s Feed the Hungry Sunday Dinner Program by volunteering time and donating funds.www.calgarydiocese.ca/feedthehungry
Hospice Calgary – Kid’s Club and Dream Catchers
Kid’s Club and Dream Catchers are Hospice Calgary’s support groups for bereaved children and teens. Participants meet weekly to discover meaningful ways to grieve, share experiences and participate in creative activities. Kid’s club also offers a concurrent program for parents or guardians. Apex holds annual fund raisers that staff named “Not Just a Walk in the Park” where our employees raise funds through sponsorship and complete a 5 kilometer walk through beautiful Bowness Park. Apex has been involved with the Mustard Seed for quite a number of years. We have supported them through monetary gifts as well the company holds an annual Stuff a Truck event in which staff bring in their lightly used clothing and other items for the Mustard Seeds programs. In 2010 we filled one and half trucks with 50 bags of clothes.www.theseed.ca
Stephen's Backpacks Society
Stephen’s Backpacks began during the Christmas season of 2006 and was born out of the desire of a child to help other children. Through Stephen’s hard work and partnership with various organizations, Stephen’s Backpacks ensures that homeless children are not forgotten at Christmas.
